An evening in the company of four noted horticulturalists and speakers
THE SPEAKERS
Lady Grace Gibson
A retired garden designer and contractor, who was trained in horticulture and organic gardening by the world famous pioneer of 'no dig gardening' - Dr Shewell-Cooper, and over the last 30 years has created a wildlife garden 400ft above Red Wharf Bay. She is a founder member of the Friends of Treborth Botanic Garden.
Dr David Shaw
Undergraduate degree in Botany from the University of Glasgow in 1962. He stayed on to research Phytophtohra and graduated PhD in 1965. A NATO Post-Doctural Fellowship took him to Michigan State University for two years and his first job was lecturing on Genetics and Plant Pathology at Bangor University. He retired in 2002 to take up his present post as Director of Research at The Savari Trust and has developed a blight-free strain of potato at Henfaes. He is an active friend of the Treborth Botanic Garden of Bangor University.
Mrs Jo Davidson
Her first ever job was as a skivvy in the cafe at Hidecote Garden in the Cotswolds; so started with the best! Since then her career has meandered from archaeology to gardening by way of pig farming! after a stint of teaching with Coleg Menai, she started working with Pauline, designing and making gardens locally. Also for the last 13 years she has jointly run the 'Out of the Common Way' plant nursery.
Mrs Pauline Eggleton
Pauline works as one half of Davidson and Eggleton Garden Design Services and has turned a life-long interest in plants into a job! Originally from London and a graduate of Brunel University, she lived on a houseboat on the Thames before moving to North Wales 23 years ago.
